New faces at the program of Visual Communication
João Doria, internationally active graphic designer, joins the Visual Communication department as Senior Lecturer. In addition, Jonas Johansson, designer with in-depth knowledge of contemporary technical possibilities within visual communication, has been recruited as Graduate Teaching Assistant at the program.
Broad international experience
João Doria holds an MFA in Graphic Design from Yale University School of Art and has taught at several design and art colleges as well as participated in exhibitions in countries such as Brazil, France, Germany, Norway and the US.
"We're very pleased to have João Doria as a new colleague. With his great experience of living, studying, working and teaching internationally, he will be a major asset to Beckmans and the Visual Communication program. He has a wide experience of teaching, and has been a guest lecturer at several colleges, including Beckmans, and also organized a private summer school (The Ventriloquist Summerschool) together with Kristina Ketola Bore," says Samira Bouabana, Program Director of Visual Communication.
"João has a critical and positive perspective on the subject area and its possibilities for development. His knowledge of international visual communication is great and will contribute to the program's ambition to broaden the students' perspective on contemporary expressions," Samira Bouabana continues.
Design with technology as a starting point
Jonas Johansson is educated at Linköping University of Technology and Hyper Island and has worked as a designer and developer in Tokyo, Montreal, London and Stockholm. In his own studio he explores the meeting of man, machine and nature with light as a recurring medium. At Beckmans College of Design Jonas teaches and manages courses in design with technology as a starting point - from digital customization of form and product development to interactive installations.
"With Jonas Johansson as Graduate Teaching Assistant in Visual Communication, the program has increased the technical skills of the college. Jonas's great enthusiasm for and knowledge of technical possibilities in visual communication is a huge asset for our students and their ability to develop contemporary expression within our subject area," says Samira Bouabana.
