Fashion students from Beckmans in international competition
Three Fashion students from Beckmans compete in Designers’ Nest during Copenhagen Fashion Week on August 10.
International and Danish jury
The students are Anna Scholz, Amanda Blom and Josephine Bergqvist. All of them graduated from the Fashion program at Beckmans College of Design in June and are now competing with their respective graduation collections from the college. The collections will be judged by a hand-picked international and Danish jury in competition with students from other Nordic design colleges.
All of the three collections have received a lot of attention both prior to and after the graduation show at Kulturhuset Stadsteatern in May. A film with Anna Scholz collection "Once I Was a Princess” has been shown more than 1000 times on Beckmans' Instagram account. Josephine Bergqvist's collection ”Maid in Sweden” which highlights the ambivalence of being sexually liberated and being sexualized and became renowned even before it was shown in its entirety.
Amanda Blom's collection ”Accentuation” has been recognized for its elaborate details. The collections discusses the role of craft in fashion and aims to upgrade the often stereotypical femininity.
"In this collection I worked a lot with the tecnique smock as a detail to exlore attractions and directions in my garnments. From the smock I have let threads hang loosely in order to show the precision required when you sew, details which are also repeated in all of my stitchings. Simple sewing thread thus becomes a detail which I've hand-stitched to fringes across a variety of the garnments. All to reconnect to the femininity and the craft i have wanted to enhance," says Amanda.
