Fashion Collaboration 2017 - Beckmans collaborates with Nordic fashion labels
Jan. 31, 2017
Six of the most distinguished labels in Nordic fashion meet a future generation of designers in Beckmans College of Design's fashion show Fashion Collaboration 2017 during Fashion Week Stockholm.
The final-year students in Fashion at Beckmans have in previous years collaborated with Swedish fashion brands such as Acne, Back, House of Dagmar and Filippa K. This year, the project has expanded to Nordic designers - Danish 2NDDAY and Finnish Marimekko in addition to the Swedish fashion brands Hope, Oscar Jacobson, Whyred and Orjan Andersson.

These six successful labels have generously shared ideas and techniques with the Fashion students, who have developed them and added their own creative universe. The result is twelve personal fashion collections created on the basis of each brand and presented in a fashion show on January 31st at 14.00 at Berns.
–To independently create a new fashion concept for the coming autumn and winter, and to meet a fashion audience, is an important preparation for their coming graduation in fashion design, explains Göran Sundberg, Senior Lecturer in Fashion.
Fashion communication by students in Visual Communication
Students in Visual Communication at Beckmans have developed the overall design concept for the fashion show. The Fashion students' collection concepts have also been the basis for fashion images and films shown on a separate website and in an exhibition held in conjunction to the show.
–Collaborations between Fashion and Visual Communication have been recurrent throughout the history of Beckmans and enrich both programs. This year's project is characterized by ideas of how fashion communication can influence as well as interprete the contemporary. The students have explored what fashion image may be based on new technical and artistic conditions, says Stefania Malmsten, Senior Lecturer in Visual Communication.
