Sports collaboration in Beckmans' show at Fashion Week
Feb. 4, 2019
Beckmans College of Design opens this season's Fashion Week in Stockholm on February 4th with the show Sport Psyche - Fashion Collaboration.
Collaboration with six recognized sports brands
Sport Psyche - Fashion Collaboration is eleven new collection concepts designed by the final-year Fashion students together with six prominent sports brands: Equestrian Stockholm, Filippa K Soft Sport, Galvin Green, Houdini, Pelle P and Stutterheim. The brands represent a breadth in the industry, with expertise in widely differing sports fields, from golf to equestrian sports.
"There are no longer any boundaries between sports and fashion, sports is fashion today. In this project, the students have collaborated with sports companies operating in a broad spectrum in the sports field. They have investigated function and how sports and design can be combined. By adding even more focus to design, we believe the sports industry can further raise the bar in the industry," says Pär Engsheden, Program Director Fashion.
The fashion show takes place on February 4th at 12.00 (doors, the show begins at 12.30) at Stockholms Auktionsverk, Nybrogatan 32. It is only open to the press and industry.
Fashion film and graphic identity by students in Visual Communication
The project is also a collaboration with a group of students in Visual Communication who have developed a graphic identity for the project that includes fashion film, lookbook in digital and printed form, web, art direction and content for social media.
"The course result is a graphic identity that is an interpretation of the fashion world, where fashion is sports and sports is fashion. The course method is collaboration. Between fashion brands and fashion students and fashion students and the visual communication students. In this collaboration they have practiced important factors for collaboration: being able to push a project forward, being responsive, communicating within the group and not least: having fun together, says Samira Bouabana, Program Director Visual Communication.
