Andreas Nobel new Senior Lecturer at the Product Design programme
Ph D and designer Andreas Nobel, is new Senior Lecturer in History, Theory and Context at the Product Design programme at Beckmans.
He begun his career in the design group Uglycute which from the start has worked consciusly and actively to let theory, pedagogy and practice fertilize each other and become an indistinguishable whole.
"I've used this during my entire career as an interior designer, as a lecturer at Konstfack, as a writer and a Ph D student," says Andreas.
Just over a year ago he defended his dissertation "Dimmer on the Enlightenment - text, shape and design."
"The subject for my thesis revolves around the relationship between form and content in general and how design relates to the contemporary view of knowledge in particular. Knowledge of these relationships is sadly lacking in many knowledge environments, but not at Beckmans, and since this matter is still my main interest, I want to work in a knowledge environment where I am in dialogue with students and teachers and I am able to immerse myself further on the subject.
"I am very pleased to welcome Andreas Nobel to Beckmans. His solid expertise in artistic research and practice will not only lead to exciting developments in our Product Design programme, but also fertilize Beckmans' ongoing dialogue between theory and practice in all of our study programmes", says Cilla Robach, Principal.
About the subject History, Theory and Context at Beckmans
At Beckmans College of Design we continuously alternate theory and practice in all three study programmes. At the Product Design programme, the subject provides the students with knowledge and tools to reflect on the design world in an historical, contemporary and historical perspective.
