With this project I wanted to create a multi-functional lamp in the most minimalistic way possible – a lamp so simple that it requires the user’s creativity, and their own two hands, to achieve its multi-functionality. With this piece one can create a huge variety of both practical and atmospheric lighting effects, but its not so straightforward. It can’t stand on its own. It demands a part of your wall, a piece of your floor, the edge of your table.

The user develops a relationship with the lamp, and a deeper understanding and appreciation of the light that it provides. The lamp has been reduced to a long thin black line that allows focus to rest on the lamp’s purpose, not its appearance. The concept also includes large nails and a simple sandbag as accessories - through basic problem solving and a little creativity, the user finds their own favourite lighting effects, as well as the positions required to achieve them.
