Product Design students to Snøhetta
Malin Berglund and Anna Sjöberg Wernerson, who have just graduated from Product Design at Beckmans, will soon start their internship and the architect- and design studio Snøhetta.
"Two work at Snøhetta is a dream I had before I started at Beckmans", says Anna. "The studio's way of working really appeals to me as they work very interdisciplinary, close to the customer and do a lot of workshops on location. In addition, they work very three-dimensional, not mainly on the computer as some architect studios".
Snøhetta is an award-winning architecture- and design studio behind several high-profile projects, including the new opera house in Oslo and the Library of Alexandria. Today they have offices in New York, San Francisco, Innsbruck, Adelaide, Oslo and newly opened office in Stockholm. Anna and Malin will begins their internship in the office in Stockholm in mid-June , and in August they will move to Snøhetta's Oslo office
Applied for internship as a team
They applied for the internship as a team since they had previously decided that they want to work together when they graduate from Beckmans.
"We complement each other very well and started to work together for the IKEA-project which was shown at Stockholm Furniture Fair in February", says Malin. "Throughout the training at the college you are encouraged to work together with others and that's a lot of what Beckmans stands for. Working together furthers the discussions, you share information and reach a better results", she continues.
Real briefs from start
During their internship they will work on real briefs from different companies, among other things they will develop new products for the cutlery company Skaugum.
-In Oslo, Snøhetta has a dream workshop that we get access to when developing the products. For example, the workshop has robots and giant 3D printers, so it's a huge privilege to get the opportunity to work in such a workshop. We are really looking forward to this internship since it will be incredibly educational but also very luxurious to be able to work with my best friend!" says Malin.
