Studenter från School of Fashion photografy har tolkat mitt examens projekts tema 

Frågan »Var kommer du ifrån?« har gäckat och förbryllat mig under 
ett antal år. i mitt examensprojekt tänker jag göra rent hus med 
frågan, både gentemot mig själv och frågeställaren. hur speglar 
frågan egentligen frågeställaren? Vad vill man veta? Varför har man 
frågat? Är man egentligen intresserad? Ofta har jag hamnat i 
situationer där jag fått förklara och rättfärdiga min egen härkomst, 
och fått lägga hela min uppväxt och bakgrund i en främlings händer. 
Vad händer med informationen som frågeställaren har fått? Förklarar 
detta min personlighet, min smak, min attityd eller bara att jag inte 
kommer härifrån? naiv nyfikenhet eller befästandet av sociala 
strukturer? En gång för alla, jag kommer härifrån! 

The question »Where do you come from?« has baffled and puzzled 
me for many years. in my degree project i settle the score with that 
question, both for myself and for the enquirer. how does the question 
reflect the enquirer? What does the enquirer want to know? Why is the 
question asked? is the asker really interested? i often find myself in 
situations where i have to explain and justify my own origins, account 
for my whole upbringing and background to a complete stranger. 
What happens with the information after the asker gets it? Does it ex- 
plain my personality, my taste, my attitude, or simply that i don’t come 
from here? naive curiosity or a confirmation of social structures? 
Once and for all, this is where i come from!
