A design process inspired by childhood, a girl forced to leave her home in Bosnia because of the rising war. Her work, as a form of therapy, an understanding of the past. This collection is especially inspired by the Bosnian national costumes and craft techniques, exploring much of what has been lost.

Portrayed in black and white photographs, a way to see the past, as something that happened a long time ago. Still, a history present every single day. From this black and white story a new world is created, in colours. The process is as important as the result.

The female body, the foetus inside her and her femininity represented by flowers are key elements. The flower is also a symbol for a beginning with an uncertain end, as a circle that never closes. On the outside she appears in total control and she radiates a clean perfectness. But on a closer look, you will see that she is limited and tormented by her past and that the child inside her is in control of her every move. This underlines the silhouette.
The colours black, silver and red symbolize death, weapons and blood. Velvet to underline traditional body movement. Embroidery on organza; a fragile fabric weighed down by hard, heavy beading. a symbolic expression for the idea of weapon facing human body. The result is an interpretation of traditional Bosnian embroidery, with newspaper articles from the war embedded inside the garment. A representation of the impossible path of finding the final relief.
