The instant love beyond any reasoning. The magnetism and immediate attraction of what is sparkling and shining. The alluring feeling of something that you just have to touch to understand. The curiosity in stealing a glance at something that is almost completely hidden. This project aims to explore the fascination and desire that a surface or material can ignite and the human need to hide, enclose and protect body and soul.

A human body can be hidden in many ways: the clothes that we wear shield us from the elements, the muscles hide our organs and the skin encloses our muscles. The four walls most of us call home protect us from the world, the curtains that we line our windows with attempt to shut others out. Padded sports gear and helmets protect the most essential parts of our bodies when called for.

Glitter can be a source of happiness but equally a facade to hide behind. This collection investigates the duality of what sparkles and shines and attempts to understand the emotional need of protection.
