As if the Chicken Scholarship wasn’t enough, now Axel von Friesen and Petter Törnqvist, both in Advertisement and Graphic Design 3, have received Berling’s Educational Scholarship 2007!

The motivation of the jury reads: Typographic pictorial language, photographic word images. Letters that become words that become pictures which in turn create new pictures. To all appearances random experiences. But appearances are deceptive. The purpose is obvious: Research. The will to discover, the urge to find the unexpected in the meeting between for example Albrecht Dürer’s world and the graphic design of our time. Research work in different media is what Axel von Friesen and Petter Törnqvist do. The purpose is to change. And to refine. They cultivate their individual characters very consciously. Seem to think that cooperations is benefitted by cultural clashes. And that a common confrontation may develop the individual. Also graphic design.

The scholarship jury: HC Ericson, Hans Cogne, Professor of Graphic Design at the University College of Arts, Crafts, and Design, and Pia Skantz Larsson.
