Fashion Innovation - Beckmans College of Design Interprets the Nobel Prize

2 Dec, 2011 | Sofia Hulting | 0 Comments

At this moment, fashion students at Beckmans College of Design are making their interpretations of this year's six Nobel prizes. Their creations will be adaptations of the prizes in physics, chemistry, medicine, literature, economic sciences and peace, and of the discoveries and the people who have been awarded the prize this year. The process from idea to creation will be documented in a blog throughout the project. Students in the programme for visual communications will also turn the process into a film that will be shown along with the finished creations in an exhibition at the Nobel Museum 10 December 2011.

The creations are at the same time suggestions of how formal dress can be renewed and relate to a modern dress code. The project also explores what unites Nobel laureates and fashion designers - namely creativity. Courage to think on entirely new lines, daring to question established theories, innovative combinations of insights from different fields - these are some of the characteristics of creativity.
