Aesthetic wind farms?

1 Mar, 2011 | Sofia Hulting | 0 Comments

How build small-scale wind power plants technologically and aesthetically? This is what the second-year students in Product Design at Beckmans College of Design are going to find out in an interdisciplinary project together with students from the Royal Institute of Technology.

Last week, the students visited the company SMIAB i Norr AB and some other companies in Skellefteå that work with the technology behind wind farms. Next week, the students will present their own sketches and models of wind power plants that will hopefully be built in Tanzania.

Students from the Market Academy at Stockholm University are also participating in the project and will research the market and economy for wind farms in countries such as Tanzania with poor electricity infrastructure.
