Students won film contest!

18 Mar, 2011 | Sofia Hulting | 0 Comments

Afshin Moeini and Christian Poppius, both first-year students in Visual Communications here at Beckmans College of Design, have won the film competition Dammsug Sverige.

Dammsug Sverige (Vacuum Sweden) is a campaign to collect the 336 million SEK0.50 coins that are hidden around Sweden, because in just two weeks they will loose their value. The fund-raising drive is in aid of vulnerable and forsaken children and the organisations BRIS, Childhood and SOS Children's Villages Sweden stand behind the campaign. In order to really emphasize the collected value of the little coin and get people to find hidden and forgotten ones, a film contest was announced earlier this year. The winners have now been chosen by a jury consisting of Johanna Koljonen, journalist and film critic, Silla Levin, Art Director at Forsman & Bodenfors, Tero Marjamäki, reporter at Resumé and Pelle Porseryd, TV producer. The jury's motivation to why Afshin and Christian won first prize is as follows: "To convey a message in 15 seconds is difficult. In their film, with fantastic retro references, Afshin and Christian manage this splendidly. Pedagogical, simple and distinct without being cheap. Animated feelgood which in a simple way says what the fund-raising drive is all about. An obvious winner that emphasizes the greatness of a little coin."

The winning film as well as the three films that won second prize will be shown on Atracta's digital big screen on Stureplan in Stockholm between March 18-31.

The music in the film was made by Jacob Olofsson (Big Street Music.
