Students won World’s Best App

22 Dec, 2010 | Malin Looft | 0 Comments

Fredrik Broander, Adam Gäfvert, and Jesper Stein, second year students in Visual Communications, have won the competition World’s Best App which was organised by World’s Best Bars.

World’s Best Bars is an online encyclopedia and a community that lists and grades the best bars around the globe. The students' task was to create an application to Apple’s popular iPad. This idea was then to be presented in a film. The competition was open to both professional creatives and amateurs. The assessment was made in two stages: the public was first invited to elect ten finalists which were then assessed by a jury including Ted Persson, creative director at Great Works and Tim Cunningham, Director of Digital and Media at Pernod Richard Group.

The students’ basic idea was that the more you know and the more skills you have, the more fair your opinion of a bar will be. Thus, the students created an application that lets the user increase his or her knowledge through fun games and challenges, adjusted to the prerequisites and possibilities of an iPad. This idea resulted in first prize of $10 000!
