Beckmans College of Design competes in Designers' Nest

3 Feb, 2012 | Sofia Hulting | 0 Comments

Three fashion students compete today for the Danish fashion prize Designers' Nest in Copenhagen!

Cassandra Yue, Emma Hanseklint and Erik Litzén, all of them final-year students in Fashion, today show their collections for a jury, competing with students from other Nordic design colleges. The prize that they can win is called Designers' Nest and is part of Copenhagen Fashion Week. The students' collections were designed during the autumn form the project NK Collection in which the task was to design a platform for innovative fashion at the department store NK.

Cassandra's collection was part of the concept AWAY! which wanted to inspire people to challenge themselves and go their own way. The basis of her collection is a young Miss Talented with a life full of different activities after school. She can not grow up fast enough and often takes a sneak-peak into her big sister's closet.

Emma's collection was included in the concept ENCOUNTER N º 1, a series of unexpected design meetings that take place at NK. Her collection consists of different textures and copper accessories and have found inspiration in how people interpret experiences differently depending on previous experiences.

Erik wanted to capture and present a new, masculine ideal. By cutting techniques borrowed from women's fashion, the silhouette and attitude of clothes taken from the classic men's wardrobe have been changed. The collection was included in the concept CHAPTERS BY NK, based on different characters who have their own role in the overall story of the CHAPTERS BY NK.
