About the project

Clothes are like a second layer of skin, a skin that better communicates who we are. Design, seams, and materials are used to create a bodily shape that highlights the ideals we embrace. Through clothes, we are able to highlight the forms we want and reduce the aspects of our figures that we don’t wish to have. Clothes beautify the body. This collection uses the body as a point of departure and seeks to challenge the beautification of its form. By manipulating the garments, the bust and shoulders have been enlarged, shrunk, and distorted. The clothes are elegant and the materials are exclusive, but the viewer is meant to feel that something is not quite right. The collection aims to cause reflection, leaving the spectator feeling like a twisted seam.
